It's BACK! A new Hilo July 4th tradition starts it's second big year this week. The 2ND ANNUAL HILO BAY BARBECUE COOK OFF! Competition begins Thursday July 3rd and continues through Friday July 4th at the commuting parking lot on the Puna side of the downtown Mo'ohea'u Bandstand. In the pic above is last year's winner BIG JAKE from Big Jake's Island BBQ. He's coming back to defend his title.

MISTY DOES IT AGAIN: For the first time ever at the Annual Taste of Puna, we have a repeat winner. Misty Inouye won Grand Prize again this year! It certainly wasn't for a lack of competition. It seems more and more contestants turn out for this great event each year. Here's Misty with Carl Okuyama, President of Puna Fresh Foods just after winning at the Kea'au Shopping Center.
